Art and motherhood.

I believe that failure to share this with all of you may have been censurable:

Down and Out in the 314

One of the great things about St. Louis and KC is the lack of beggars--at least when compared to cities like LA, Chicago, and Nueva York. Even though I work in downtown St. Louis and live in the city itself, I see very, very few beggars and homeless people--so few that I can readily identify them. The only ones I see even on a semi-regular basis are 30 Cent and Have a F*cked Up Day Dude. 30 Cent always asks people if they have a spare thirty cents. One of these days, I'll ask him why he specifically asks for thirty cents. Have a F*cked Up Day Dude walks along the street talking to himself until he walks by a person and asks if he can ask that person a quesion. Upon being told no, he tells you to have a f*cked up day--really sowing the seeds for the next time he wants to ask you for money.

Lately, I've noticed a new homeless person, an Asian dude. He is the first Asian homeless person I've seen in Missouri.

A good day

Yesterday ended on a very positive note. I went to the grocery store and found that Boulevard's Zon was stocked on the shelf.

God bless you, Andre. That is a tasty beverage.

Hair, Part II

I have good hair.

I mean that. If the bald spot wasn't getting bigger with every passing day, I would have great hair. I think my hair is so nice because of the shower regimen that I have kept for the past 15 years. It's a remnant of the good ol' ponytail days, but I continue it out of habit. See, when I had long hair, I had to condition it daily so that I could run a comb/brush through it in order to put it into a proper ponytail. Here's the regimen:
1. Get in the shower
2. Shampoo my hair
3. Put in conditioner
4. Wash and rinse body (I fairly recently added a facial scrub to this step)
5. Leaving the conditioner in the hair, get out of the shower and shave
6. After shaving, get back in the shower to rinse out the conditioner and to rinse off any leftover shaving cream

Thus, my hair conditions for several minutes while I shave my face. This regimen has piqued the curiousity of many a roommate who thought I took 2 showers in the morning, but the time spent conditioning has left me with very good hair. Not great hair, but probably as good as it could be at this point.

hair

After 16 years of combing my hair straight back (either into a ponytail or simply straight back with a de facto part in the middle of my head), today I parted my hair on the right side of my cranium.

I think I like it. I may shave my goatee. I may unwittingly be giving up looking like Paul Burnett in his 20s for Lent.
